A modern Stand Down is modeled after the Stand Down concept that was used during the Vietnam War. Exhausted combat troops were provided a safe environment to rest, recover, receive meals and medical attention, and enjoy some much-needed, friendly camaraderie. Similarly, our event will offer all veterans medical care, dental care, vision care, food, legal services, housing and employment assistance, pet care, clothing, hair cuts, camaraderie and many other services, all in a safe environment. All services are provided free of charge to all veterans and their families. However, we cannot succeed without the help of individuals or companies like you.

Placer Veterans Stand Down is staffed and operated wholly by volunteers. Physicians, dentists, veterinarians and other professionals all donate their time, as well. Financial donations are used to pay for supplies needed to offer these services. 100% of your donation goes toward helping our veterans. We are an all-volunteer organization and no one receives a stipend or monetary compensation.

During the past 15 years we have proudly:

3890 Veterans Served

1870 Dental Procedures

2348 Medical Procedures

1732 Vision Care Exams

1557 Prescription Glasses

15,560 Meals Served

286 Veteran's Pets' Exams & Vaccinations

4231 Haircuts

910 Overnight Stays
